Here’s what our home looks like after three years of renovations, including painting, refinished floors, a fabulous new garden, and some love for the outbuildings, including our beloved red barn. Don’t miss the video tour!
We took posession of our dream home 3 years ago, the second week of October. We renovated both the downstairs bathrooms, refinished all the floors in the house and painted most of it.

The Garden
Then the following Fall we put in new hardscaping and then the plant material was installed the Spring 2024. It’s shocking how much it has grown just in one season.

We have some beautiful new paint colours!
This past year we painted the laundry room, refreshed the upstairs powder room, and the dining/sunroom got a fresh coat of green! We’ve also started working on the millwork in our upstairs entertainment room. When you saw it last there was just a naked fireplace with a hole in the wall.

Our behind the scenes angel
And the man who makes everything outside look amazing is my nephew Noah Boyes, who is heading off this Fall to work as an electricians apprentice. He will be sorely missed, he is such a hard worker and an incredible person to have around the house.

When we were on vacation this past summer, he painted our outbuildings, here is what they looked like before:

The sides of the barn are metal so the barn looks shiny and new from the house, however when you get up close the paint has faded badly.
We should get chickens in the little outbuilding on the right but I worry that we are so far away from these buildings since our property is so narrow. It would be great to be able to see any farm animals that we had.
And yes it’s true that the red barn doesn’t match any colours in our house on the exterior or interior however Terreeia loves it and since I get to do pretty much anything I want when it comes to decorating the red stays.
It looks a lot better now. MaryAnne White the designer responsible for our fabulous design, drew a bed for the side of it (below right) next year we’ll have hollyhocks and sunflowers there. By the way MaryAnne can give you a plan virtually so that you not only have a design, but you know what to plan and where. Worth every penny! Contact her here.

The transformation has been amazing! So pretty to say the least! Have the previous owners seen what you have done with their prior home – I am thinking they wish they stayed and had you renovate it? Can you please share the off white color of your trim work throughout your home? Finally, what redlight bed did you get?
Thank You
It was from a company called Rouge in Montreal, last I checked they ship everywhere. My trim is SW Snowbound or BM Cloud White. thanks Christy!

Oh! And that landscaping?! I don’t know what you paid, but it was worth every penny. 🙂
Thank you for the tour Maria – your home is beautiful! Maybe you’ve addressed this question before, but I’d love to know where I can get a leopard chair like the one you have in your great room!
Love all the info you present. One complaint – the “whatever you call it” in the upper left corner is very intrusive visually and obscures your pictures and text. (It contains a hamburger for menu, a search click, etc). Thanks.
Thanks we’ll bring that up to our web designer. Maria
Regarding AI… the problem we’re facing is its carbon footprint. What all the processors required for AI have in common is a significant energy requirement to run their advanced operations without overheating. The AI centres are a huge water and energy consumers. AND… AI has yet to prove it can supply reliable information sources.
I agree it’s quite alarming really! Thanks for your comment! Maria
