Affordable Art

By 11/04/2010February 10th, 201717 Comments

I fell in love with Shirley’s art when I was clicking on my Baskets & Poodles linky party from last week. I don’t know if all her art is as affordable as the little 5” x 5” paintings that she posts on her ‘One Painting every other day’ blog but here is some of the art on her blog:

I really love this creative arrangement of art above the flat screen! What a fabulous way to make your TV look like a piece of art! Best of all none of it seems expensive, we can all whip up something like this!
Do you have any favorite affordable art sources to share?

TV as work of art . . . this photo shows a creative stance. love it. Have to share — QVC has a mirror that William Sonoma currently has on sale at a MUCH lower price. This mirror (the Celeste Mirror) I put on the wall above the wall mounted TV. It is gorgeous, love the circles. I would "imagine" that you could do more "art" on this wall as well. might check it out: http://www.qvc.com/qic/qvcapp.aspx/view.2/app.detail/params.item.H165413.desc.Decorative-38-Iron-Ring-Starburst-Wall-Mirror

    Hi Maria,

You may have heard by now that the beloved Visual Vamp needs our help.
I am hosting an online auction this Friday to benefit Valorie and could use a bit of help spreading the word.
Please stop by my blog for more details.

    Be blessed,
    Laura

Shirley's art is so vibrant! It will certainly make any room happier!

I love those paintings. Even though we collect more traditional pieces, I have two really vibrant paintings like hers, and they are just stunning even in our more formal traditional rooms. I don't think you can go wrong with a painting like that, no matter what the style of the room is. These pieces are as they are suppose to be, beautiful art.

I love Shirley's paintings – I'll have to check them out more thoroughly.

  • Most of my clients are on a budget and would rather set aside the bulk of that budget for furniture pieces, so I am always looking for ways to dress their walls inexpensively but with style and personality.

The artists who do the "Daily Painting" thing often have reasonably priced and beautiful pieces!! I LOVE that TV wall — it looks amazing.

The gray room with the black and white photo's is lovely, and what a great way to "hide" a t.v.

Wow..An art piece a day! I've seen videos of artists who do this. I have a friend, Gloria, who painted 40 faces in 40 days just recently. I so admire artists' ability to paint. I plan to post about her prints tomorrow. Still working on how to use my extra frames and make them match for her prints.

Maria..I have nothing to post this week…but NEXT week! Oh..You'll be so proud of me!! I'm certain you are going to like what I'm doing. It is really a color blocking idea taken a little further. My idea cost $20.00 at our local fabric store. It has been simmering in the back of my mind for weeks now after all of our various hotel stints this year. This will be VERY easy and VERY inexpensive..but look at LEAST as good as what you see on the walls of many a nice hotel.

I have the coordinating fabrics all ready and some poster board and batting..but it's a project for tomorrow I think. :o)Most of my projects are not cheap..or easy unless you are a quilter but this will be a 'no sew' project.

Thanks for sharing these great links. I love the photo a day. The prices are usually very inexpensive. Also..hiding the TV. Now I'm going to work on that one for sure. Can't wait to try this.

I have enjoyed your blog since I found it about 2 weeks ago. I am a painter, but I also love design, color, and decorating. I left a link for my work…thank you very much for the exposure opportunity! I do mostly small landscapes that I sell on eBay and from my blog. I also wrote a post on framing small paintings and hanging artwork. Connie

Those are beautiful artworks! And yes, the art arrangement with the TV is one clever idea.

Thanks again, Maria, for hosting a fun "linky party."

    Happy weekend!

  • hi Maria, what a great idea this is — it's so fun to click into what others are doing. I loved Grace's photography and I particularly liked the not-so-lofty spaces use of her own stuff as the subject of the artwork for above the desk. That was really clever.
