I’m so excited to finally announce that we’re re-launching my Exterior Colour Selection Masterclass this Spring with a few NEW updates! If you’re new here, this is my on-demand course for creating a beautiful and timeless home exterior.

Basically, I’m handing over the step-by-step system I use to choose exterior colour for clients all over the world. And, it has 18 highly-focused video modules you can watch over and over again!

First, I’ve added Module 18, which  outlines exactly how I arrived at the paint colours on my French country exterior. So many of you have been asking about my exterior paint colours – so this is where you’ll find all the details!

NEW! Module 18: How to Properly Test Exterior Colour

Because it was my own house that was being painted, I was able to systematically explain step by step, exactly how to do it correctly and that’s why I turned it into a module all on it’s own.

Drab exterior before

Here’s the drab exterior before (above). And here it is now (below).

The hardscaping was installed in the Fall and the plant material is coming this Spring.

French country exterior with overgrouted stone

The existing stone was correct on my French country style home but it needed a fresher look. So I had it overgrouted. Also, because of the existing, earthy stone, the paint colour had to coordinate with it.

My windows are stark white, you’ll also learn why I chose the trim colour I have as well.

The blue French doors coordinate with the blue ceilings and accents that you’ll find inside my home.

Rear elevation after

Here’s the back of the house, now with the boxwood clouds and hot tub installed to replace the mound of rocks that were previously there (below).

Rear elevation after
Interestingly, after the new, much lighter paint colour went up, I was not longer bothered by the scale of the pool house.

Before it was painted, the design of it just looked wrong to me. Now with a fresh coat of the right colour, along with the art that is permanently screwed into the wall–until it fades and I buy a new one–it’s right again.

Great content in the YouTube as always Maria! Hopefully next time you can correct the audio recording. It was a little fuzzy.

Hello! I am a long time reader of your blog and I love it! I would like to know what color the blue doors are on your pool house.
    Thanks very much! Leslie

Where I live in the mountains, exteriors are one of three materials. Hardiplank siding, LP Smartside siding, or wood logs.

Stone accents are common, which dictates forever what colors can be used.

I’d like to see more exteriors in COLORS.

I’m sure you mean “overdo” not “overdue”.
