If you’ve been scrolling Instagram or Pinterest lately, you’ve seen it: the Ralph Lauren Christmas aesthetic is everywhere this year. Think rich plaids, cozy textures, timeless elegance, and that unmistakable preppy-traditional vibe that somehow feels both festive and sophisticated.

The good news? You don’t need a Ralph Lauren budget to get this look.

I went to Home Sense and found everything you need to create your own Ralph Lauren-inspired Christmas—and I’m sharing it all in my latest YouTube video.

What Makes a Ralph Lauren Christmas?

The Ralph Lauren holiday aesthetic isn’t just about throwing some plaid around (though there’s definitely plaid involved). It’s a specific combination of:

  • Classic plaid patterns (tartan, buffalo check, traditional red/green plaids)
  • Rich, layered textures (velvet, wool, faux fur, cable knit)
  • Traditional colour palette (deep oxblood reds, forest greens, navy, cream, gold accents)
  • Timeless elements (brass candlesticks, hurricanes, ginger jars, leather accents)
  • Cozy elegance (think ski lodge meets English country manor)

It’s the kind of Christmas decor that looks expensive, feels warm and inviting, and never goes out of style.

Why This Look Works (And Why It’s Timeless)

Here’s what I love about the Ralph Lauren Christmas aesthetic: it’s built on timeless foundations.

Those classic plaids? They’ve been around for centuries.
That rich colour palette? Never goes out of style.
Those cozy textures? Always feel inviting.

This isn’t a trendy look that’ll feel dated next year. It’s a classic look that happens to be having a moment right now—which means you can invest in these pieces and use them for years to come.

That’s the kind of decorating I can get behind.

The Bottom Line: You don’t need to shop at Ralph Lauren to get the Ralph Lauren Christmas look. You just need to know what to look for—and how to put it together.

Just a quick note – Ralph Lauren doesn’t pronounce his name with the accent on ——ren, but with the accent on the first syllable- Laur….

Every year as I look at different themes in Christmas decorating, I tempted to abandon my carefully curated decorations. This year that’s not a problem! I am thrilled that a Ralph Lauren Christmas is trending. It has been the trend/tradition in my house for 20+ years! Yipee! I am on trend!

Thank you for bringing us shopping with you Maria!!! I love these ‘episodes’!!!
Do you end up gathering a crowd around you?
I would definitely want to be following you around – not in a creepy way 😉 but to learn what catches your eye!!!

  7. Annette says:

Oh my gosh Maria! I just watched your Ralph Lauren video and I loved it. I’ve always preferred a burgundy rather than Christmas red for my tree and other decorations and now I see that you do also. I enjoy seeing you look through Home Sense searching for items that would work. When I search through Hobby Lobby or Home Goods it takes time since I don’t want to settle. Thank you for such a great little video and I look forward to seeing more!!

    • Maria Killam says:

Yes I prefer burgandy to christmas reds too! Thanks for your comment! xo
