Green front door

via pinterest

When this post about front door colours went up on my blog, it went viral on Pinterest. In fact I think it’s what suddenly made Pinterest the highest source of traffic to my site.

So now I receive countless emails asking which colour YOUR front door should be.

When we moved into this house last year, at the end of our six week renovation I had our front door painted Kelly Green. After that, the rest of the neighbours said “Well now I need to paint MY front door”.

I love walking up to my colourful front door and well, let’s face it, it’s far easier to just paint your front door than your entire house.

So, I could show you a bunch of pretty front doors but that won’t be as helpful, so I’m going to try something like this: if you sign up for my free webinar and send me a picture of your front door by Sunday, May 19, 2013, I will curate them all and make my webinar about all YOUR front doors and no one else’s.

What this means is if I get 10 front doors where my advice would be the same, I’ll just choose one.

The actual live webinar will be next friday May 24, 2013 at 11:00 am PDT time.

In my–did I mention–FREE webinar, I’ll show door after door and give all your colour options as well as discuss WHY those are the colours I’m suggesting.

Fun or what?

Sign up here. Space is limited so do it now. Sorry I can’t take any more front doors, but you can attend on Friday!

Don’t worry, if you can’t make the time, we’ll record it and send it to you later.

Let’s get some colour happiness going, yippee!

Darnit! We are out of town and I am very tempted to have a girlfriend go take a picture of my front door for me!! We painted our house a couple years ago and I really want to paint the door but not sure best way… What a fun webinar!

  2. Mary says:

Since I live in a townhouse, I’m not allowed to paint my front door. Makes me wonder how much trouble I would get into if I did it anyway.

  3. What a great webinar, Maria!! It’s such an awesome opportunity for everyone to learn and get personal advice!!!

  4. Maggie S says:

Can those of us that are currently renting (and don’t have a door to paint) sit in?

  5. What a great idea, Maria ! I had a gorgeous caramel latte color but the HOA made me change it back to black 🙁

  6. Sounds like fun.

  7. chez says:

Excited – and in need of this since I have the painter scheduled to paint our front door in early June!

  8. Julie says:

    BEST.THING.EVER
I need to paint my house too. I was in the first exterior color webinar you had and I’m going to keep my house white but I still don’t know which white to choose. Should I pick a white that will match your suggestions for the door (same undertone) or pick a white first and then a door color?

  9. Cindy Sue says:

This is so amazing! I have been staring at my front door for two weeks now wondering WHAT color to paint it. I wish I could attend your FREE webinar, but have a prior commitment, but can’t wait to see the replay!

  10. Nicola says:

Can’t wait to see you in ‘person’ talking color!!!! 🙂

  11. Donna says:

What a great offer. Unfortunately our Homeowner association dictates outdoor colors. Still I love a great door color!

  12. Donna says:

    I’m having trouble signing up ! 🙁

  13. mairi says:

Thanks Maria for this opportunity! I will send a photo for sure since I know there is an undertone problem with what I have now. This will be a fun learning experience. I think the front door sets the tone for the rest of a house.
Will you be addressing the issue where another door is visible from the front, such as a service door or side door entry?

  14. Amy says:

Sign me up! Great subject and one of my obsessions! Front door color and curb appeal! I also LOVE Pinterest!

believe it or not I have only just discovered Pinterest and not to sure how to use it as yet. I just wanted to thank you for your front door posting, a current passion of mine and it was with great pleasure that I oggled and re-oggled your collection of door favourites, inspiring me to take a leap from the norm.

  15. Victoria says:

I would love to attend, but am keeping two young grandsons during that time. But I would sure love to know what color to paint my new very white front door. Remember me showing you my old front door that I painted a beautiful turquoise. I really miss that color front door and wonder if I can paint this new one.
Will have to watch it after the kiddos leave next Friday. Looking forward to it!

  16. netty says:

    Hi Maria,

I am a (former) online client (sorry I never sent after pic’s, it took me a while to get most of the items and THEN we moved! So now I would LOVE your free advice on what color to paint my door. However, the link to email you my pic is not working. Do still have the same email from when i was a client?

    Thank you!
    Annette

  17. Hi Maria, I signed up for the webinar but when I click to send my picture it will not allow me to do so.

  18. Me again, Maria. I went back to retrieve the exact response I got when I tried to send my picture of the front door. It said it was unable to complete because “the default mail client is not properly installed.” I’m really hoping to submit my front door as this has been a topic of discussion at our house for over a year.

  19. Debbie says:

Very timely, the paint store is on my shopping list. Successfully signed up and emailed my PIC(s); looking forward to the webinar!

  20. Betsy OShea says:

Great idea! I am in the process of painting my exterior. I must thank u for the suggestion of BM Thunder which is a nice tan color and matches the mortar of my red brick. First i painted my fr door VanDeusan Blue w window sashes and mullions in a terracotta. Changed my mind, now windows in the same grayed indigo and door is an orangw red; BM Deep Rose…..may repaint to Currant Red or Caliente as lts a tad too orange for my taste. For anyone needing fab inspiration for exterior schemes i picked up a GREAT book on Amzn…House Colors exterior Color By Style of Architecture. By Susan Hershman. Maria i strongly recc this book. Its really excellent

  21. Michele Quick says:

Signed up and can’t wait to hear all of your suggestions!

  22. Donna says:

    Maria,
I’m having the same trouble signing up that I had on the 17th. When I click Register Now nothing happens.

    Help please!

    Donna

You are an amazing person, and am tickled to death to see you do these things.

Now, off to find out how to watch the replay!

p.s. really liked the staging behind you, of the bookcase, etc, with your colors, and how nicely it all worked. Showed forethought and professionalism, you are to be commended!

  24. jeanfrances says:

Please send link to Webinar, I was at work during this time and was unable to watch.
    Thank you in kind.

  25. Julie says:

I so wanted to watch live but was sick as a dog, awake for 30 hours straight and had to get chest x-rays. I was finally able to get some sleep about an hour before the start of the webinar, so I’m anxiously awaiting the recording … hope to get it soon!

  26. tutti mccormick says:

  27. joyce paliulionis says:

I signed up for the webinar but could not join in at the specific time. Wher can I find the link to see it?

Thank you, for a GREAT blog.

  28. Peggy Lyon says:

Hi Maria, Thank you!! You suggested some colors for my front door on the webinar. My painter just started today painting my front door with the Pennywise and it looks fantastic. You also suggested Kendall Charcoal, so I asked him to paint the shutters in that color, and they look great too!! When it’s all done, I will send you a full before and after picture. Thanks again!!

  29. Lucy says:

What is the mfg and color name of the pink door? I’m making an offer on a cottage today that needs that door color!
