Stuck with a black-and-white home that already feels dated, just as warmer neutrals are taking over? I’m sharing 3 easy ways to make your space look more expensive—no renovation required.
Why Warm Neutrals Are Taking Over Interior Design
After years of bold black-and-white interiors dominating our homes, design trends are quickly shifting toward warmer neutrals like beige, taupe, and soft terracotta. This new direction brings a sense of comfort and sophistication—making it easier than ever to update your space and leave the harsh monochrome look behind.
Stay tuned… and I’ll show you how!

Unlocking the Secret Language of Colour in Your Home
I think about this a lot, because once you truly understand neutral undertones—and colour as a language—you unlock a kind of superpower.
Suddenly, your perception of any environment shifts. Instead of reacting with, “This dated bathroom or kitchen is awful, it all has to go,” (or advising your clients that demolition is the only path), you begin to see through a completely different filter. One that allows for wisdom-driven choices, not reaction-based decisions.
Most people don’t have this superpower. They look at a room and immediately want to gut it, unaware that the disconnect doesn’t lie in the design, but in the colour relationships.

Why eDesign works!
By the way, that’s why our eDesign packages are so well received. Every day we hear from relieved clients who now have a clear roadmap—and the confidence that their color choices will align beautifully.
Because every single purchase is, in truth, a colour decision. And the more precise your choices, the more refined—and expensive—your home looks.
It’s a common misconception that an expensive home is about how much money you spend. But in reality, there’s an extraordinary amount of money wasted on trendy, flashy, or overdone finishes that quickly become dated.
It’s not about throwing money at your space—it’s about knowing what works. That, my friends, is what makes a house look expensive.

All those tips are spot on. White opal glass shades are a non negotiable for my light fixtures at this point! Or fabric on lamps of course. I’m so glad I got to move from my black and white trend lite (and wood) home 3 years ago… I put it in 7-8 years ago and then was seeing it everywhere, was DONE. One antidote to the trend is decorating with color of course! Get a good dose of blues and greens and terracottas or mauves in your art, rugs, upholstery, cushions – it looks good.
