Lacey thought her biggest problem was a corner fireplace. Then AFTER one room makeover turned into FIVE (in one day), she admitted she’d also been considering replacing the black fireplace surround in the living room (sneak peek below), the black entry tile and much of the flooring on her main floor—a renovation that could have cost tens of thousands of dollars.

Instead, we spent one day decorating. By the end of the makeover, the room felt completely different, the black finishes suddenly belonged, and the renovations she’d been planning no longer felt necessary.

The right decorating plan has a funny way of making you say, “Wait… what renovation?”

I really enjoy these features. They remind me of old school HGTV, when they actually had shows about how to decorate. (“Design Time Saturday Night,” anyone?) I really wish they would put some decorating shows back into the mix.
Maria should pitch this idea to a TV network! Her makeover videos are so popular and well received! I’m sure she could stretch her YouTube videos to a 30-60 minute program. 😀
Love, love, love these makeovers!!!! Amazing to see how decorating transforms a room and makes a home a home. Thank you for doing this.
This was so satisfying! I appreciate how you added in a little more black with the rug to relate to existing tile snippets, yet without creating a black and white feel. The house feels WAY better and lovely to live in! I only wanted to change the kitchen pony wall lamp to one with a colorful base. Shopping selection dictates what you can do of course!
Oh Maria!!! You are a marvellous make over woman!!! Just fabulous room to room decor. That LR rug along with the William Morris art and new pillows make the black floor and fireplace surround seem intentional. Of course that is what you do!!!!!! The whole home just flows now. Lovely!!!
