I Hate my Closet Contest is Back!

By 11/19/2013August 8th, 201714 Comments

The Designer Closet Guys installed closets in my house last year! And thank goodness they did, because our closet door is actually a pocket door so if our closet wasn’t pretty to look at, I would want to keep the door closed and that would not be fun.

Here’s the video of my colour consultation with the winner of last years I Hate my Closet Contest, check it out!

Oh, if only Houston TX was in the Lower Mainland! I’ve been purging and trying to organize my strange, twisty turny closet ..with stairs in it..since last December! I’ve thrown out so much…but not quite gotten it donated/out of the house! Why is it so hard??

  • Sandy says:

Ah, “if only” closets were my biggest problem (my big problem is the rest of the house, the closets are actually looking pretty good). This looks like a great contest — a fun video too, and I love the addition of the laundry room at the end. THAT I need!
-Sandy, wishing for a whole-house contest for the U.S.

I’m with Sandy…I’d LOVE to have that team in my garage! Terrific video! Good luck to those who enter!

  • Babs Loyd says:

Because of my location I cannot enter your contest. I clicked on one of your previous posts about decorating your bedroom. It prompts my question:
What type of paint–glossy, eggshell, etc.– did you use to paint the brick fireplace? I have two different colors of bricks on our master bedroom fireplace and want to blend them with one color. My floors are blondish wood and the mantle is “Zebra wood” with blonde and brown little stripes. The walls are a cameo tint. On each side of the fireplace are built in bookshelves painted dark brown. I may paint them the same color as the bricks to tie them together.

Best of luck to everyone….. sure that you can not drop in to small town Ontario….anyway sure hope that we get to see the fabulous winners closet when it is completed.

  • Jill says:

Just wondering what is ‘Lower Mainland’?

    • Barbara says:

It is the area outside of Vancouver, where Maria is living. Where it is still flat, before you hit the mountains.

  • Helen says:

what colors are used in the bedroom and closet, particularly the green? thanks!

  • SandyCGC says:

Can’t participate, sadly, but decided last year that when I get to my master closet, it will be green and white as in last year’s contest winner’s redo.

P.S. Hi, Diane G from Houston, TX (born and raised there and my stomping grounds until I moved to Arizona in 2003). You’re doing better than I am – I moved to my little home in December of last year but haven’t even begun to purge or organize the master closet yet. Why is it so hard? I guess ’cause “life” gets in the way.

  • Connie says:

I will sure be jealous of that winner!!! What a terrific prize.
Maybe when you hire your new person to work in the US we will have a contest?!?

  • Carol says:

What a FUN video! It made me feel better to see
someone else was more disorganized than me…is
that bad? I Loved the before and after and the color
was perfect too…….zippy and just what you want to
see when you open your closet!!

  • Kim Freeman says:

Love the colour choices. Good luck to the next winner. Maybe the Closet Guys can come to Quesnel sometime – only 8 hours away!

  • Oh, I need a closet organization so badly! Asking for that for Christmas! I actually had a a basket of shoes fall on my head the other day and had a huge lump to show for it! Love the color you chose! So fun to see you in Little Rock!
