UnCommon Goods Giveaway

I love finding websites with unique and funky, off-the-beaten path items, so when uncommon goods approached me to do a giveaway worth $200, I thought it was a great idea.

UncommonGoods is an online marketplace offering creatively designed, high-quality merchandise at affordable prices. Their mission is to support and provide a platform for artists and designers and in fact half of what they sell is made by hand. Uncommon Goods donates a portion of each order to your choice of non-profit organizations: American Forests, Women for Women International, City Harvest, and the Rape, Abuse & Incest National Network (RAINN).

  1. I’ve done business several times in the past with this great company — in fact I have an item I’m planning to order as soon as we get back from our vacation. (Don’t want it sitting on the front step all by itself for a week.) I’ve always been happy with my purchases from Uncommon Goods and would be thrilled to be a winner in this drawing! We have a wedding int he family and the Wedding Crest would make a perfect gift for them.

  56. I have given the personalized Couple on a tandem” to several of our friends who were getting married — including their pet riding along. Love that they also customize it for gay couples, one of whom said it was there “best present ever.”

  57. My favorite is the heirloom tomatoes. It reminds me of my father who recently passed away. His garden, and especially his tomatoes were legendary, sometimes topping 10′ tall. This year a tomato plant he planted in our yard two years ago came up on its own and is producing tomatoes. I like to think it’s a sign from him that he’s still with me.
Thank you, Maria for the phone consultation we had when designing my kitchen in 2011. It looks fabulous thanks to you!

  58. The Do What you Want print is the perfect graduation gift for someone special in my life. I also like the choice of charities which are in line with ones I will be choosing when I redo my will next week! I’ve been struggling with how to narrow it down when there are so many good charities out there and these interesting choices spur me on in my quest. BTW Maria your recent blog about your niche market fits me to a T. I do landscape design consultations; very similar to what you do, but outside. Many times I am struck by your insights about working with clients.

  65. I found Uncommon Goods by accident one day and I am so glad I did. I found a set of champagne glasses with an etched design that matched exactly the theme of my son’s upcoming wedding. It was the perfect shower gift for my soon to be DIL and she loved them, and they used them for the toasts at the wedding! It is not often you find THE perfect gift, but this was it.

Now, have you seen the glass candy jar shaped like an open zipped lock bag? I have my eye on that one for me!

  66. Can’t resist 36 black cats. Great, colorful drawing with a subtle sense of humor.

I always like the glasses that Uncommon Goods sells, that are made from recycled bottles. But they do just have a ton of nice things, usually unique and/or environmentally friendly to boot.

  67. I think its wonderful that they donate their proceeds to
the organizations that they do……….so caring in a world

  73. Two of my guilty pleasures in one place. Maria- I love your posts. We’ve just “right-sized” into a three bedroom apartment (from a three story house) and I go to your website for inspiration and instruction multiple times each week. Uncommon Goods is a favorite for great decorating and gift ideas. I like to look through the catalog with a pen and mark the items I want. Often the entire catalog is filled with my notations and circles indicating I’d like one of everything!

  85. Love, love, love those prints. Hard to choose my favorite. Went on the website and loved everything. The “basket locker” is super cute!

  86. I love The Warblers print. I had forgotten about Uncommon Goods. Once upon a time I worked for a wholesale/import company called Anokha (which means unique in hindi). We worked closely with artisans and imported their creations from India. One of the works we wholesaled to UG was button bowls. Thanks for the fond memories of a job I loved!

  87. I was given a set of colored wavy rocks glasses for a wedding gift and have loved Uncommon goods ever since. Glad you are featuring them on your blog/site…they deserve the note.
Their prints are ADORABLE. I love the Heirloom tomatoes print — perfect for a sweet piece in a kitchen. 🙂

  88. I love Heirloom Tomatoes….so evocative. It reminds me so much of when I was a little tacker, sneaking down to our veggie patch in the summer and hiding behind the staked tomatoes and feasting on strawberries & tomatoes, and then telling mum with the most innocent look on my face (& red stains on fingers & face) “no mummy I haven’t been in the veggie patch again” :- )

  89. They have a great range of products. It’s nice to see another US company that really wants to ship to Canada.

  90. My very sentimental first born nephew and god son just got engaged. He planned the most romantic and over the top proposal. Would so love to be able to give him the Wedding Crest for his wedding. He would so appreciate it.

  91. I was first drawn (no pun intended) to the beautiful colors and then was overflowing with gratitude when I saw that proceeds support RAINN. Beautiful art with a heart.

  92. Maria, thank you for bringing this site to me. I am always looking for something fun, new and creative. I am tired of seeing the same art over and over again.

  93. Heirloom Tomatoes makes me think of fall, gardening, and Halloween. Fun. Really enjoyed perusing the website. Uncommon for sure. Thanks.

  94. Alicia Stavropoulos

They’re all wonderful! It looks like a fabulous start to a fun, colorful gallery wall and I’ve just the place for it!
    ~Alicia

  95. Uncommon goods has such neat gifts. I, like many others, like the wedding crest best. Thanks for a great giveaway!

  96. Not sure if you did your giveaway yet or not….but in case you didn’t: I purchased one of the Custom Alexander Wedding prints featured online at uncommongoods.com for my brothers wedding, and hands down: it was the best gift there based on all the “OMG’s!” it got…..now my other brother just got engaged so I already know what I would get!
