Stunning Front Entry

By 05/19/2010January 27th, 201721 Comments

Tablescapes are on my mind now that I’m decorating my new place. I want to buy a fabulous table for my entry and make it just as inviting as this one! All you need is a lamp (for instant atmosphere), some coffee table books, beautiful art and some flowers. I saved this image and can’t remember where I got it from, please let me know if you have the credit.

This is where I’ll be tomorrow night in Atlanta. The event with Shaw Flooring is over at 2:00 pm on Thursday and my flight doesn’t leave until 7:00 pm so I do have a little time for a visit.  If you are nearby, send me an email!

    Maria,

The home entry is what your eyes mirror about your soul. A starting point that invites and reflects on it's own. The space engauges visitors to seek more within the home. This is where color and style set the tone.

The picture of the front hall is the lovely work of our great client, Schuyler Samperton. We did a wonderful Q & A with her last October and featured this picture on The Buzz. It was sourced from Schuyler's website, http://www.schuylersamperton.com.

An aside – the word "tablescape" has been forever ruined for me by Sandra Lee.

the entry is for me one f the most important spaces in the house, though many people dont give it importance at all – it's the first energy we get when walk in, the first image our friends and family will have first time tehy'll walk in: it is the house's 'business card'.
im so looking forward to see your new home work in progress.
keep us posted on your event, please 🙂

I don't much like the word Tablescape but gosh, that photo knocks my socks off. Walking through the door at the end of a long day and seeing that would just completely turn my weariness upside down.

Maria, I love the tablescape and am glad you are getting to enjoy working on it. I'm sure we'll get to see a picture and I can't wait!

Thank you so much for suggesting we look at the tablescapes you have done! I'm so inspired! I don't have room for tables in our entry way, but I do have an antique china hutch. Now I have much better ideas for how to make it look stunning. :o)

I also have a cubbyhole shelf filled with fabric that unfortunately has to be located in the livingroom. It is covered with a thin denim for now (I'm working on a better solution.) and I've attempted to make a tablescape on top of it with antique books, a very large chalk self-portrait on aged cream colored paper done by my father(he was an artist), and a antique group family picture with an even older frame. I've been working on an arrangement and now I know what was missing..some kind of flora. It has a rustic almost western look so I will have to think what would be best… maybe dried flowers of some kind like cattails or leaves..

By the way, I have a surprise post I'm working on that I know you will love! It is about putting into practice what you told us about colors that have just met versus being married. You will be so proud of me!! I'm going to email you the three photos (grouped as one) showing the before and after of my sewing room as compared with the entry way into the rest of the house. You will see vividly why it had to be changed. But I didn't know it until reading your post. I just knew something wasn't right. Thanks again for helping me beautify my home!
