Sisters in Seattle with Flytographer

My sister Elizabeth and I have not had a girls weekend in about two years it seems like! So this past weekend, we drove down to Seattle for a little shopping and I thought it would be fun to get some photos taken of the two of us!

When my Mom, Terreeia and I were in New York in the Fall, we had photos taken with Flytographer and I loved that they know all the best, touristy places to take photos. It made it really special and fun. I’ve wanted some amazing photos of my Mom and I for a long time and now I have them.

Getting professional photos taken always feel like a bit of a hassle, you have to figure out what you’re going to wear that will look good together, but it’s so worth it in the end. We’re all just getting older right?!

We were so happy the weather cooperated and it was a gorgeous, sunny day! We didn’t really organize out what we were going to wear until we got there, so I’m wearing two shades of yellow and all my fabulous scarves were at home but I was still really happy with the result!

It seems like so many of my coats come from Zara because they do colour! Anyway the only one I could find that’s similar is here, I bought it last year.

When we were in this coffee shop, Erin, our Flytographer mentioned that it is a very popular spot for Instagram photos, she has seen up to 5 photographers in this shop at one time!!

One reason is because of the turquoise chairs outside right? Colour is way more fun than just more neutrals.

Lately I have become obsessed with Alexis Bittar jewelry. Specifically his bracelets. When I was in LA two weeks ago I bought this gold bubble ring and loved how simple it looked with my gold wedding band on my other ring, so then I ordered the white (silver) one.

You can see all his bracelets here. I love how coordinated they look when you stack them.

Bag similar here.

Hey, what’s the undertone of the wall on the left of us and the concrete above us?

I just discovered Frame Jeans at Nordstrom. Love them!

So this post has affiliate links, it’s not a lot of money but it makes me feel better when I’m talking about where stuff is from if at least I’m making a couple bucks 🙂  This is what I do for a living after all! Sit at my computer and write, write, write!

Is this photo Colour me Happy or what?

PS. I’m speaking at High Point this Spring season. I’ll be at the Hamilton-Wrenn showroom talking about the 5 Color Mistakes You’re Making Right Now with Your Clients at April 14 at 10:00 am.

Will you be there?

Happiness is. . . Asking the Right Question

  1. Ok, I hate it when people ask such detailed questions, but I HAVE to know… what is the brand/colour of lipstick that you are wearing??? It is awesome!!!!!

    • I agree Brenda. I totally agree. I’ve seen it get to the point of being rude to the blogger.

Contrasting colors add so much zest to the day. My Mom did our (dairy) milk room in bright green linoleum with white walls and it always made the mornings I milked a bit brighter then the interior musky browns of all the other farm buildings.

  2. The cutest post ever!! You two look like you are having a very special sister weekend. And…I love both of your
    stylish spring outfits!

  3. I love Flytographer – such a great business and Canadian and women-owned! One of my old producers from Cityline is their PR person. It’s a great way to get wonderful photos. And the colours with your outfits against the backdrop of Seattle – amazing.

  4. Okay, so I’m going to have a go at the colors! The wall to your left has a purple undertone to it, while the concrete lintel above you looks like it has a yellow/green undertone to it. I think it seems more yellow though than green, but it’s so much dirtier of a color in comparison to the purple grey that it seems to have both in it. Is that correct? I’ve always loved your “identify this undertone” posts! I have to say that’s what initally drew me to your blog 🙂

    • Oh and, isn’t that coffee shop just a few streets over from Pike Place Market? It looks so familliar. I’m pretty sure I’ve had coffee there before too. (I used to live on Whidbey Island and would go to the city every once and a while for fun).

  5. You’re in my hood! So glad you had good weather, and you two look totes adorb! I know where you are in every shot….how blessed am I to live there??

  6. When my sister and i travel together, we never have a photographer. We just have fun together. It must be an age thing.

  7. Aren’t you two the cutest and so nice that you were able to have some quality time together on your own. Do love your yellow pumps Maria, speaking of which are you aware of Nordstrom’s (personal stylist) Trunk Club service? -Brenda-

  8. You two are adorable together.

I’m definitely going to schedule a Flytographer for a girls golf trip to Oregon.

  9. Beautiful pictures! Which one will you frame? I think my favourite is the first photo. Your yellow coat, Elizabeth’s bows, the turquoise table and both of you smiling makes a wonderful photo.
I love affiliate links. They help us find the products you show and you get a few dollars as well. A win=win!

  10. Such a happy post and such awesome, special pics of you and your sister. Looks like you had a blast. Good for you two!

  11. It’s sweet that both of you take time out of your busy lives to spend quality time together. And to have it captured by a photographer is extra special.
I didn’t realize you were that much taller than her.
