Deconstructing Whites for Interiors is what I’ll be speaking about at this upcoming market at the Lunch and Learn on Sunday, October 19th at the Zaar Design Center in High Point.
I will be giving the audience a sneak peek of my upcoming eBook, White is Complicated: A Decorators Guide to Choosing the Right White.
Discover the five essential categories of whites and which one is right for walls, ceilings, cabinets, trim and woodwork.

Never second guess yourself again, when specifying or choosing whites that would be this costly to re-paint (above).

Learn which white is right before you even buy one stitch of furniture.

Hear the story about the white epiphany I had and when (only 4 short years ago) that started me on this journey to write a book about the colour white.
I’ll give you a hint. It all started with a custom made BEDSKIRT.
If you’re not coming to High Point, don’t worry, my lovelies, when I launch in November, you’ll be the first to hear all about it ; ) ; )
I have learned so much about white in the last 6 months, even had a few more ‘aha moments’ when I wrote and presented my Renovate with Confidence: Focus on Finishes webinar this past summer (if you missed it and are renovating or building a house, it’s not to be missed), I have revised and re-written this book all over again. . . twice.
So hang tight, you’ll be getting the best of everything I know in a way that will really make sense so it’ll be worth the wait! xoxo Maria
PS. Don’t forget to RSVP for my talk if you’ll be there!

I can’t wait for the new book. I’ve learned so much from you already, Maria!
When will the e-book come out? I am repainting the inside of my whole house – I am just hoping to be able to wait to paint until I’ve read your thoughts!
Middle of November! Maria
OK. I’ll hang in there. Thanks!
I love white, but now I am thinking of all the different shades of white in my house. Still so much to learn but slowly getting there. Your new book will help so much.
I am originally from the UK where the skies are grey, yellow in its different shades is a very popular colour. It brings a little sunshine and warmth into the houses.
Now I live in Canada and look out the window at white snow for 5 months of the year, do I really want to paint the inside of my house in white!! Also, what about the bright reflection that snow gives to the interior, it seems to alter the intensity of the shade on the wall. Just my thoughts!!
HI Jill, this book is about white for all surfaces, including trim, cabinets and millwork, not just for walls. I totally agree with you! Maria
I’m curious what colors you think are used in the top photo. What cream on the oval? What would the textured wall be if painted? Beautiful.
HI Ali,
Well if you compare the white towels to the window it looks quite cream so I would say somewhere in the realm of Bm Ivory White. The wall looks like a combination of Bm Standish white and Natural cream.
Thanks, Maria!
This book is going to be worth the wait, I’m sure. White is the one ‘colour’ people really struggle with. As for me; ‘..give me white or give me death!’ Well, maybe not that, but it’s definitely the canvas I like to start with and then the rest just falls in place.
I hope the ebook will discuss finishes too! I can get lost in matte, eggshell, satin, semi gloss and gloss and what should go where!
Looking forward to your”White book”-we are painting our new Charleston condo December 2nd, so perfect timing!! What would we do without your “color” expertise-I read all of your blogs and remodeled my 85 yr old uncles condo before he moved in, with every tip from your blog and now 2 years later, we are selling it for 30k more than he paid-he is coming to Charleston with us and we found him a fabulous independent senior place that has darling pastel cottages, and a 100 women for him to meet at their weekly wine and cheese tuesdays and happy hour fridays. So thank you so much Maria for being so generous with your knowledge of colors!
Thank you for working so hard to enrich our lives, Maria! I can’t wait for the book, and oh, to imagine being at High Point…..some day. Have a great time. Can’t wait to see pictures!
I thought you would like to know that your “become a client. Online or In-person” links on some (all?) of your blog posts (like this one) don’t work. At least, they aren’t working for me!
Sent an email about this, too.
Reading lots of your blog posts. Thank you so much. They are helping. Although I really think I need more help from you!
Can’t wait Can’t wait Can’t wait Can’t wait.
Did I say Can’t wait??
(gettin’ giddy)
I am painting on Monday, predominately off white in the whole house….. Really wish I could buy your book before then
