It’s time for my annual round-up of best posts for 2014, here they are:
1. My White Kitchen Inside Style at Home
It was pretty amazing to have my house on the cover of the April issue of Style at Home this year. See the before’s and after’s of my kitchen here.
2. Ask Maria: Help, I Don’t Want the Same Kitchen as Everyone Else!
This post is a must-read for anyone choosing kitchen finishes in 2015.
3. I’m an Interior Decorator NOT an Interior Designer
Someone once posted a comment saying that I was just a pillow fluffer. I took that as a total compliment. In fact, watching Downton Abby the other night, my favourite line of all time from Maggie Smith who plays Lady Grantham said:
“I take everything as a compliment, it saves many an awkward moment”.
4. Easter Time and my 500 White Tulips are Blooming!
And then in the summer when I pulled them all out. I forgot that I had bought taller ones for the front yard, different from the back yard. When they were planted again this fall, they were all mixed up, so I’m interested to see what they’re going to look like this Spring.
5. Should I Paint my House Charcoal?
If you’re planning to paint your exterior this Spring, don’t miss this post.
6. Aimee’s Happy Home Makeover: Before & After
{Decorating & Styling by Maria Killam}
This transformation is thanks to all of you my lovely readers who contributed so generously to turn Irene’s sisters new home into a happy place to live!
7. Stylish Women Don’t Wear T-Shirts: Yay or Nay?
EVERYONE had an opinion about this headline, haha. I’ve since learned that you can’t just tuck one side of a shirt in like the photo of me in this post, but you do leave the back untucked and then it works.
8. Should you Install Grey Wood Floors?
9. Indigo & Turquoise Summer House: Before & After
America’s favourite colour was in the spotlight this year and certainly in this summer house I decorated close to where I live.
10. How to Choose Paint Colours that Work with your Lighting
A must read for anyone who thinks one should be able to predict what lighting will do to your paint colour BEFORE it goes up.
11. Three Ways to Use Fresh to Sell Design
You don’t have to introduce grey in your decorating to create a fresh look and feel. Here’s how you do it.
12. 2014 Holiday Tour of my House inside Canadian Living
If you missed the holiday tour of my house this season, here it is again.
Happy New Year my lovelies!

Love all your posts! Happy New Year!
“I take everything as a compliment, it saves many an awkward moment.”
I love that! I’ve adopted the attitude that I don’t take offense to anything that I don’t know for certain was meant to offend; even then, it’s generally not worth acknowledging. Life is much more pleasant that way.
Thank you for enjoyable and informative reads.
