We got the tree up on Sunday and then the rest of the week I’ve been scrambling to get some other spaces looking festive. I don’t think I have enough rooms looking Christmassy yet but here is my wreath for the front door.
This wreath is NOT do-it-yourself 🙂 It was purchased at a big box store I’ve frequently mentioned on this blog for $25. I had it on our front door last year (which was white) so now I’m really glad it’s white (instead of red and green) because now it works on the orange door as well.
This is my front entry, and my new Ralph Lauren (knock-off) lampshade.
This (below) is what the shade looked like in the summer when I photographed it:
The new lampshade makes such a difference doesn’t it? I had it custom made and it was worth every penny. I have bought new lampshades for many old lamps for my clients and given them a brand new life. If you have an old lampshade on a treasured lamp, get a new one, you will love it even more I promise!
For Christmas I thought I’d keep the vignette simple. I found this angel and ornament to go with it at Pier 1 two years ago. And I always love the scent of paper whites!

Maria, I love the wreath with the color pop behind. I am not an orange girl but I must admit it looks pretty cool. Love the angel and the sweet and simple vignette!!! Very chic, just like you, Merry Christmas, Kathysue
Have fun here in Seattle! Enjoy:-)
Also love what you did with your entryway, super cute
Hi, Maria, so glad you linked up to the party. Your foyer pic is just beautiful, I love paperwhites too & wish I had started some. What a gorgeous wreath that is!
The wreath goes well with the door. Love your vignette!
Have fun in Seattle, I was there last week!
orange with white? LOVE IT!!
Merry, merry! I just bought a new shade for a five buck lamp too! I just did a post of it!
That lamp does make a huge difference and it ties in so well with the umbrella picture in the background. Could you tell us what that picture is called and if it is a print–I love it!
Hey Maria,

I love the angel and the ornament on the entry table.. That is so beautiful and your new shade is divine! It certainly made the lamp base spring to life. the wreath is really pretty.
I found your wonderful blog last week while I was surfing the net on my iPhone at the airport. I'm happy to see all your images on the big screen now. I've already learned so much from you. Thank you!
I'm on a campaign to paint our kitchen cabinets white – that makes so much sense!!! Husband and Son are objecting but I hope I can wear them down:)
Your wreath looks great against that orange door.
Wow!!!
I love all the pictures!!! What a great time of the year, eh?

I love the idea of using orange as a backdrop for the wreath. It's a nice unpredicatble pop of color.

Found my way here from A Perfect Gray blog. I just read your post from last year about the Christmas tree conundrum. I have the same exact desire to have a loose, casually thrown together tree. I really think it has to do with the type of tree. The more expensive, airier ones with less branches have an imperfect, kinda scrappy look. Anyway, so glad I found your blog!
It took me a moment to notice yo had anything 'christmassy' on your table . . . coming from the kitschy sister that would have large sparkly items all over the place ( and I do) understated takes me a moment to see!
i love the wreath with the orange door! hope you have a fab weekend.
Lovely! smiles…
I really love the new lampshade. proof that you don't have to use the one that comes with the lamp. I have two candlestick lamps that I have been wanting to change the shades on forever! I just can't seem to find the ones I want! I also love to bring a little Christmas to every room in the house.
