Maria Killam Interview with Verdigris Vie

Verdigris Vie has posted an interview with me on her blog today, click here to read! It’s so fascinating to me how every blogger has a style that becomes quickly obvious when you start scrolling down to see their images. This blog is no exception, filled with beautiful, elegant interiors and Canadian too!

One of the designers she featured was Sherrill Canet who has done some beautiful rooms using contemporary, graphic fabrics that are so popular now! These are all from her website.

I’m currently working on a beautiful house where we are doing a graphic rug similar to the one in this image! Laura are you reading this? It looks fabulous!

Love the clean lines of this room!
Notice how she took the drapery right up to the ceiling on the short windows in this bedroom to line up with the large window on the right that is tall? Drapery really does transform a space when it’s done right. Sabine, this image is for you 🙂

Loved this kelly green room, it’s my latest colour crush! And the great toss cushion! They truly make or break a space! Love them!

When you have too many decorative pillows on the bed, what do you do with the ones you sleep on? I included this image because here they are all tucked in with the shams in the front! I’m working on three bedrooms right now (for 3 different clients) and I’m always looking for new ways of dressing a bed. What do you think?

Thanks Verdigris Vie for including me in your blog!

There is something in each of these pictures that I like. Vitania does always find great images to share.

I'm loving nearly everything in the green room… the sofa, the cushions, the lamp, the carpet, the side table, and of course the walls!

I also love the dining chairs in the top pic. The element of pattern in the chair backs is gorgeous! Off to read the interview.

    Linda. 🙂

Your interview with Vitania is great — I really enjoyed reading it 🙂

Love the blue & white living room in the third picture. I'd be afraid to eat or drink anything on that white furniture, though!! The striped chair by the window looks like a cozy place to sit 🙂

I love to see lots of toss cushions and a beautiful cover on the bed. The problem for me is making the bed every morning. I never do it so my cushions and cover collect dust in the corner of my bedroom. Maybe when Noah stops napping in my bed every day I will start making my bed again.

The Kelly green room is wonderful!

    Have a wonderful weekend!

All the grommet draperies are fabulous, I am in love with the graphic rugs and the lanterns. Oh, and that pillow on the green sofa.

I think it's a European thing to have your spread stop at the headboard. When I do a custom coverlet I always add a pillow tuck at the top so there is a place for the sleeping pillows.

I love the chandelier in the first dining room.

I love something in every picture. I am moving to a new house soon and I can not decide about our master bedroom. Gray walls are really catching my eye but then I think I want green walls with black and white bedding. I think I have looked at too many pictures:)

  • Mary says:

    Hi Maria,
I put my sleeping pillows in my closet when I make my bed in the morning.

  • Marlo says:

So nice to have you as the interviewee! Cute wallpaper story about the time you were 16 yrs old. Even then you had a good eye because no one else, without training, would have figured out why the wall colour wasn't working with the wallpaper.

I keep my sleeping pillows on the bed. Two king pillows are laid flat and two queen pillows on top-also flat. Leaning against them are 3 euro size toss pillows and two smaller ones in front. This set up allows me to make the bed quickly in the morning.

    Have a good weekend.

    Hi Maria
Thank you so much for sharing your creative insight and personal experiences with us this week. It's a pleasure getting to know you. I am enjoying all the comments coming in from your fans and students.

Also, a special thanks for sharing the post with your readers and mentioning Verdigris Vie. Much appreciated.

On the pillows on the bed..

I like to hide the ones used behind big shams and smaller toss pillows and a bolster. It is a PAIN to take on and off everyday, but one just lives with that!
    xo

great images Maria, I am off to VV…love her too!
