Eileen Kathryn Boyd’s Colourful Lighting for Mottega

By 05/20/2011January 28th, 201713 Comments
On Day 3 of Blogfest, we got a tour of the D&D Building in New York. One of my very favourite and talented designers, Eileen Kathryn Boyd was at Mottega presenting her new line of lamps.  When I walked up to her and realized who she was I was so thrilled and flattered that she recognized me instantly because she happens to subscribe to my blog!  I am a huge fan and have written many posts on Eileen’s work here, here and here.

She was wearing a pale blue top with the most fabulous green skirt, I instantly took note of that colour combination so that I could copy it 🙂  Here is one of her interiors (above) in pale blue and green similar to what she was wearing!

She is just as lovely in person as she appears in her photos! I took a photo of this lamp below as it’s a perfect match to my sunflower yellow sofa.  It’s a fun picture because you can see a New York building in the background!

What’s special about this collection is that you can design the lamp exactly how you want it, choose the base, shade and finial and it ships in about 2 weeks.  How do you select the right 11 shades out of all the colours in the world?  The ones that will sell?  That is a question anyone in the business of colour needs to understand. I love Eileen’s picks and I was especially happy to see the exact shade of my sofa represented in her collection!

I also love that with the introduction of this new collection, this style of lighting is not going away anytime soon! It’s such a great way to add a wonderful pop of colour in any room in your home!

Which colour do you need right now?
