Since I launched my Masterclass for Exterior Colour Selection last March, I’ve added four ADDITIONAL video lessons to the online training.
These new modules were created especially for YOU! I received many requests to show more before and afters so you’ll see lots of them in my new lessons:
Module 13: Porch, Deck, Fencing, and Paving
In this module, I share my best colour tips for creating beautiful transition spaces between your interior and exterior including perfect columns and railings, decking, and paving for timeless porches, decks, and patios.
Module 14: What Would Maria Do With THIS House (Before & After)
In this module, I’ll give you a glimpse inside my thought process and how I arrive at the final colour specifications for real houses from my readers.
Here’s a sneak peek. This reader lamented that her new vinyl windows were too yellow (below). In this photo you can see that the pink beige brick now clashed with the windows.
Painting the trim and brick the same colour was the solution! And a fabulous colour for the front door.
After (Find out what colours I chose in the Masterclass)
Module 15: What Would Maria Do with THIS Patio + Fence (Before & After)
It happens all the time, people make changes to their exterior and simply stop before they consider the outdoor areas and how they relate and transition from the interior. Again, these are real houses from my readers to help you create a home that fills you with joy when you arrive.
This was my reader’s question:
“Our back deck has an imbalanced look on the bottom right but I can’t really put my finger on what’s wrong, other than that the main posts look a little small for the deck height. We’re planing to paint the house a warm green gray but I’m not sure what to do with the deck color wise. Would it be better to blend in or to contrast?”
A new colour with some landscaping magic from MaryAnne White (my virtual landscape designer, who could be yours as well) created this transformation:

Questions about stone cladding?
NEW! Module 16: Stone Placement
Wondering if stone is necessary on your new build or exterior renovation? One thing you SHOULD question is whether your plans should include ALL the stone that has been specified and most important, IS IT BALANCED?
You’ll also see the style of home that should NEVER be black. And some more WWMD (What Would Maria Do?) examples to learn from.
Still on the fence?
I can tell you that if you’re considering making ANY changes to your exterior in the next 12 months – this masterclass is what you need RIGHT NOW before you make a single decision you may regret later.
Every choice is a colour decision. Every. Single. One. That means you need to understand how to coordinate colour AND know which elements should be considered FIRST to get it right.
This is the ONLY course that will guide you step-by-step to choosing the perfect colours for your exterior using my proven System for Specifying Colour.
One of the most valuable lessons you’ll gain from this online training is how to narrow down your choices to a select and optimal few. This knowledge will empower you to make THE RIGHT selections for your exterior and eliminate the fear of making an expensive mistake. You can’t put a price on that.
Not only that, it will help you navigate the trend cycles to arrive at the most classic and timeless look for any exterior.
This Masterclass for Exterior Colour Selection is the fast track for learning to choose exterior colour like an expert. Everything about exteriors that I’ve learned, tested, and perfected over 20 years has been packed into clear, universal principles that anyone can learn and apply to their home’s exterior.
But wait, there’s more!
Last fall I created a private Facebook group exclusively for my masterclass students. This bonus Facebook group is already shaping up as the best place to find community support with fellow students (who also understand my system) for exterior design ideas, feedback and inspiration.
It’s your place to ask questions, share photos, and read other’s posts for inspiration.
And this course comes with lifetime access. That means you can use this to improve every exterior you’ll ever own, for the rest of your life.

Here’s what some of my students are saying:
“Maria answers questions I didn’t even know I had. Or, rather, she gives solutions to problems that I would not recognize until it’s too late… This is such important information. Every builder/developer in North America should take this course.”
“Loved it, very comprehensive look at a daunting aspect of color selection!”
“It exceeded my expectations. The class went into good detail on each topic. Loved the examples with the Photoshop visuals.”
“Very helpful to get such great, detailed colour info on the various exterior components. Loved getting all the new colour recommendations for the black & white trend we are now into. Thank you for making more high-quality, in-depth training available.”

Hi, that house/deck transformation is fantastic as a before/after lesson!
If already bought previous editions of the White Is Complicated and How to Choose e-books, how do we access this new revised version?
Maria, you’re a genius! ❤️
You truly are brilliant Maria. Shocks me how you show the best way to do exteriors. Oh I love that yellow door. 😘
Love to see the before and afters! Huge improvement on that second home. I’m probably in the minority, but I totally disagree with that yellow door. I like yellow, but that is too intense and all I see. Also draws my eye to the brick area that isn’t the home’s most attractive feature.
