As many of you know, my journey in the world of colour and design has been a deeply personal one.

From the early days of launching my business to starting my blog in 2008 and growing an online audience, this journey has been filled with both incredible highs and valuable lessons along the way. But, do you want to know what I’m most grateful for?

It’s YOU.

Writing a blog and reading your comments… suddenly I wasn’t alone anymore. I realized there were so many others out there just like me… just like YOU!

I discovered a whole world of people who were hungry to learn more about neutral undertones and colour and decorating.

It’s also how I uncovered my passion for helping others create beautiful spaces. I’ve learned that the path to mastery is often filled with challenges, but through it all, one thing has become abundantly clear: we are stronger together.

That’s why I’m thrilled to share some exciting news with you! After a year of hard work and dedication, I’m proud to introduce a brand new community designed just for you—a space where we can connect, learn, and grow side by side on our colour journeys.

There is so much good stuff packed inside this community, with new content added everyday, I can’t wait to share it with y’all!

If you’ve been following me for a long time, you’ll already know that I didn’t go to design school.  When I was a brand new colour consultant, I was just flailing out there all on my own trying to figure it out. While I knew in my heart that I needed to pursue something creative, the lack of formal training made me feel like an imposter in a world full of more qualified decorators and designers.

I felt lost and alone, trying to figure it out on my own. Looking back, I realize it took me much longer to gain confidence in my skills because I was missing the support of a community. People I could talk to, share ideas with, learn from, and draw inspiration.

And that’s exactly why I created this space. I’ve learned that we grow faster and stronger when we come together.

We learn much better with community

That’s right, research shows that we learn better together! Collaborative and social learning creates connection, shared experience, exchange of ideas, knowledge, experience and so much more.

Learning inside a community of like-minded people is so much richer and you learn way more quickly. You don’t have to be over there in your corner going it alone like I did.

And that’s why I’m so excited to introduce you to our brand-new space to connect: True Colour Insider!
community

And this space isn’t just for designers… it’s for EVERYONE.

Whether you’re mastering my colour system, wanting to become a better decorator, or just starting your colour business, True Colour Insider is where we come together to exchange ideas and lift one another up.💡

Back when I first started it wasn’t easy, and I understand how lonely it can feel to tackle decorating challenges on your own.

Because sometimes you need someone to help you through those tricky decorating decisions. We’ve all had those nights of lying awake, stressing over choices and options, and wishing for someone to say, “Here’s what you should do!”

I created the True Colour Insider community with two goals in mind. I want to help support ALL DECORATORS who aspire to solve decorating challenges and confidently finish their home projects. Because everyone deserves to feel JOY when they walk into their homes.

The community is for you!

It’s a space that’s more organized, more in-depth, and much more connected than any social media platform could ever be.

I can share so much more with you about what I’m so passionate to teach – about lamps, how to create atmosphere, styling, how to distract the eye from mistakes you’ve made, how to fix colour mistakes, how to take your dated bathroom or kitchen and make it look so much better.

And share it with you in a direct and organized way. Because I really want you to live in a house that you love.

And if it’s your jam, I want to help you help others do the same! 🫶

Inside, you’ll have a supportive and constructive––not to mention fun––space to share your ideas too. And benefit from connecting to hundreds of like minded friends on a similar path.

There is access to ongoing learning and regular design challenges, resources, weekly live coaching sessions and more.

There’s so much to learn 🌟

I didn’t buy my first home until I was 43 years old, so I know what it’s like to live with finishes and colours you don’t like because I spent most of my life living in rentals.

But over the last few decades, I have been inside thousands of homes in person and virtually. And believe me when I tell you that I KNOW it’s even more painful to live with choices YOU made, YOU paid hard earned money to install and now, every day that you see those finishes you paid for and now hate, you are ANNOYED.

And as we’ve discussed my lovely readers, when you know better, you do better.

There is SO much to learn when it comes to choosing paint and finishes, decorating and styling. So many intentional details go into creating beautiful, layered and storied rooms that you love to live in.

With the right community SUPPORT, you can leap past a lifetime of trial and error and get to where you want to be much faster—all while having fun!

Anyone can become a better decorator

I believe everyone can learn to become a better decorator.

We spend way too much time in our homes to not have it look the way we want. And the purpose of this community is to solve our colour and decorating dilemmas and grow our skills in a deeper, richer way. Faster. Together.

To be in a community where our common goal to have our homes fill us with joy when we walk in the door!

And the most amazing piece of all of this is not only will you have my guidance inside, but you’ll be able to connect with people who’ve walked in your shoes.

If you’re feeling frustrated by all the conflicting advice you find online, this is for you.

So many people tell me they are overwhelmed by the amount of misleading advice they encounter online.

No longer will you have to toss your dilemma into Google to have it throw back scattershot, conflicting answers and opinions that will only confuse you more. Because, how can you trust advice like that?

You’ll be connected every day to a community that supports you and whose advice you can trust

Instead of getting lost in vague discussions about trends, you’ll receive practical, actionable advice from people who truly understand colour and design.

For example, you’ve probably experienced some of the misguided advice you find on decorators threads everywhere online… Like this thread which I stumbled upon the other day:

Then someone said, “What is Mrs. Hinch decor?” (a question I had as well). Then someone posted this image:

Apparently an influencer in the UK who decorated her entire home in shades of grey. By the way, if we’re going to split hairs here, you’ll notice that the accent wall and curtains are a blue grey and everything else is a green grey.

Anyway, this was the advice being given.

Which, if you’ve been following me, you’ll know this is a highly convoluted way of getting to the point. If you’ve taken any of my training, you know that just about any colour is going to work with a grey carpet. And it has nothing to do with cool or warm-toned greys.

Uhhh, okie dokie, still have no idea what to do right? Sound familiar?

The internet is full of vague advice based on piecemeal understanding of colour theory – which we all know is of limited to no use when it comes to decorating. Try this instead!

There are SO many more constructive and practical ways to approach this dilemma. And addition to my team and I, the community is packed with people trained in the Killam Colour System with all kinds of real experiences to draw from.

This community is what has been missing. That’s why I created it. And I look forward to connecting with you inside!

It’s not just a learning space—it’s a place for connection, celebration, and growth.

Meet Others Just Like YOU

Inside this community we will all speak the same colour language. And the bottom line is you won’t be alone anymore.  That’s exactly what the word COMMUNITY is:

Definition: a feeling of fellowship with others, as a result of sharing common attitudes, interests, and goals.

The platform we are on is designed to connect you with people who share similarities with you – maybe you’ll find someone who lives near you, or who has a similar background, or who’s been through an extensive home renovation or new build project!

There have been so many connections made by colour enthusiasts and designers who have attended my courses.

It always amazes me (because it happens so often) when two people will be sitting at the same table, or right beside each other and they find out they live on the same street but have never met!

That’s what it will be like inside!

Stay tuned… a new styling course is coming soon!

The doors to the True Colour Insider community open next Tuesday, September 17, 2024.

And if you join True Colour Insider by October 4, 2024 you’ll receive Module 1 of my newest course: Styling School, which is all about the transformative power of lamps—because let’s be honest, they’re essential for creating the perfect atmosphere in any room!

You have all been asking me for a course on styling and this is the first of many modules.

Come back next Tuesday for a full rundown of what this course covers and how you can get FREE access to it, inside the community!

I am ready to join the homeowners community right now(!!!), but have declined similar communities of online design bloggers because the platform is Facebook, and I don’t want to join Facebook. What platform will you be using? Do hope it is not Facebook!!!

This is awesome!! I have a folder with all your posts I use for reference. (I guard them and my color wheels with my life). Having all your style and color teachings in one place will save so much time than searching emails.
