Expert Colour Training – Perfect Location for True Colour Experts

I arrived in Atlanta on Tuesday night to a heavy rainstorm.  It was just like this. . .

Then 2 of my participants who were schedule to fly Wednesday couldn’t make it because of the snowstorms happening elsewhere (this one in Chicago):
Everyone else arrived and we are having a wonderful time ensconced in a lovely meeting room right above Gregory’s Paint & Flooring here in John’s Creek, GA. Soon we will have 17 more Certified True Colour Experts with 5 here in Atlanta.
If you are in Georgia, G is for Gregory’s Paint & Flooring.  Rebecca & Roy Dumas are the wonderful, knowledgeable and hospitable owners who are totally taking care of us here!
Which undertones are we seeing here?  This is a great place to include a conversation called “Which carpet is the most neutral?” How dark can you go before it starts to boss you around?  Homework each night preparing colour charts can be done right here at the Benjamin Moore colourizer (below).

The first day I was here, I arrived at one of my readers homes for an exterior and interior colour and design consultation (she booked an appointment with me about 6 weeks ago when she read that I would be here).  I wish now I had taken some photos, her home was under renovation but really fabulous and unique.  Contemporary but warm. She was planning a vertical garden somewhere:
After we had chosen her exterior colours and talked about additional ways to add curb appeal, we went inside, where we analyzed whether Carrara could be modern:

I say yes, what do you say?

I *so* badly wish I was there! How fun it sounds. And I definitely think carrara can be modern. That's one of the reasons I like it; it can be modern or traditional. xoxo

  • Karena says:

Enjoy Maris, yes carrara can be contemporary!

Maria … we are bracing for our 2 inches this evening. Ha! You would think that we are about to have a blizzard. But in South Texas this is a huge event: Snow! Love your blog. Your posts always are so on spot.
    Stay warm,

How long will you be here Maria? I live just by the airport. Would love to say hello…

  • Between you, me and the Fencepost says:

Here I thought it would be nice and warm in Atlanta. . . But then compared to everyone else digging themselves out of the snowstorms it's a tropical paradise! It's raining nonstop of course here at home . . .

  • Mary says:

I wish I was with you in Atlanta instead of Chicago.
It would be warmer & I could learn a thing or two.

  • Kate at Dream To Life says:

Crazy weather everywhere!! I loved your newsletter this month – especially about putting grey pillows on your brown couch to tie in the walls! THANK YOU!!!

  • Mona Thompson says:

Absolutely can be contemporary! It's snowing here AGAIN. Not used to this in Little Rock. Glad you were still able to have a great event in Atlanta.

  • Donna says:

Hi Maria, It looks pretty modern to me..but what do I know..just about ANYTHING looks modern to me. LOL!

I'm glad you and your class participants are safe and dry. I know you will all have lots of fun.

We were supposed to get snow..but it didn't happen. It's just cold with some ice. Our deck would be perfect if we just had some ice skates out here. But the ice coating made for some absolutely stunning outdoor photos which I plan to share next week.

Have a super fun weekend! I'll be looking forward to hearing all about it when you all are done. Vertical garden..sounds intriguing!

    Would love to see you!
I think Carrara marble is timeless, you can pull every look, depending on everything else.
    PS:
I love vertical gardens! Patrick Blanc is a master! I have posted a while ago on his book 'Vertical Garden'

    Hello Maria,

I hope you have a wonderful time in Atlanta. Have a great trip back home too. 🙂

Carrara can be modern for sure if she's using straight/clean lines. It will not be "cold", but will be modern. It will depend what she will choose to accessorize with too. Gorgeous choice.

    xo
