Mine is orange. And since orange is an outgoing, optimistic and social colour, I’m happy with it!
We’re moving this weekend (it’s still a rental—we tried to buy it didn’t work out). It’s twice as big as the space we are in now—I can hardly wait! All the doors in this townhouse complex are the same colour so I lucked out!
I already have drapes ready for the office which will be the first thing I’m decorating and painting (because once the office furniture is in, it’s not fun to take out and paint later!). The drapes are turquoise and yellow and the room will be painted turquoise! I already found some fabulous yellow lamps that match the drapes. . . I’m very excited!

I love my front door color —- it's Garden Green by Benjamin Moore. It gives a happy welcome to my little white house. We painted it tan when we moved in – but that just never felt right. I have walked the streets in many a town looking for the best front door color! I hope mine says, "Come in – we're glad you're here!"
Mine is a bright, sort of Grecian blue. It was the first thing I painted when we bought our house (it was brown when we got here and when I was stripping it I found out it had been forest green before that). After years of living in apartments with no control over the color (which meant oak woodwork and white walls) I was dying to get some color in my life.
It's the first door in this ideabook on Houzz: http://www.houzz.com/ideabooks/20608/list/what-does-your-front-door-say-
I love my front door colour as well. It is Georgian Bay by BM and looks very pretty against the orangey coloured brick. I'm also glad that it looks good with wreaths and other decorations throughout the year, as I like to dress-up the front porch and make it seasonal and welcoming.
I smiled when i saw the title of this post. I bet you can guess the color of my front door!
My front door is BM HC-154 Hale Navy and I love it. I had painted it a pure black but it looked too formal with the style of my home. The navy is more welcoming and goes well with the orange tones in the brick.
Yay! You'll be in your new home this weekend. The orange door is perfect for you; it was meant to be.
My front door is still unpainted (white) although we did install beautiful wrought iron inserts.
I would love some version of pink for my doors but it isn't going to work with orange brick, is it? It'll probably have to be brown which I don't like.
So what does it say about me when I am forced to paint the front door a colour I don't like but that works? 🙁
Pink! Actually it's Benjamin Moore Segovia Red, which doesn't look pink at all on the color card, but on my door, it's most definitely a lovely shade of raspberry. (Of course, from the outside, it's partially obscured by an iron security door, so it's perhaps a little less obnoxious.) But on the inside, it's pink as can be!
Does a pink front door say that I'm bright? Spirited? Lively? Cheerful? Hope so!
Our current home has glass French doors. Our last house we painted a glossy green.
We are watching a British TV series (on Netfix) called "Foyles War." I am constantly commenting to my husband about the amazing door colors. (The show is great too.)
i am currently renting & my front door is beige, in fact everything in this house is beige, so right now Im feeling rather boring. i love to see a bright red or Black front door!!!!
My front door is black with a pineapple door knocker. I love it, we have a spacious colonial with black shutters. It has a sophisticated appearance.
Mine says that we always use the back door! It's boring and white and forgotten. Oh dear – now I know I have to paint it. A nice toasty red-orange, I think.
My front door is black, and I love it! It is simple but classic. I do think it's looking a bit banged up though, I should probably give it a fresh coat soon!
Nancy
Mine is a lovely shade of a blue/gray but I have been wanting to paint it silver or a bright color? I was thinking of some kind of zesty citron color.

Are you looking forward to living in a whole new space? It must be a little exciting to have the opportunity to create a whole new living space – all the things you can do, differently.
This is funny, I just did a comparative blog post about front doors, here in London and in Sydney yesterday. (Good to know I'm in tune!) My front door is Charcoal Grey – Dulux 'Ebony Mist 2' (OONN 16/000) With a brushed steel letter box, of course. On two projects, I did one door a deep, deep Aubergine – high gloss with lots and lots of layers to build up the colour, so that it almost look like a very ripe aubergine. It looked the business. The other, we went with a matt Duck Egg Blue and that looks very pretty, too.
For crazy door colours, you should look out for the colours the Australians in Sydney use – they really are gorgeous.
Our front door is all glass….I must have a see through personality!
Both my front door and back door are black, inside and out. I like the simplicity of having them black, matches my wardrobe 🙂
However like Nancys comment mine would definitely benefit with a fresh coat of paint this spring.
Susan
Very exciting for you, Maria! I'm sure your office is going to look not only fantastic, but just like you.
Decisive Yellow by Sherwin Williams. Love it, love it, love it!
Congratulations on your new office!!
My front door is glass….and black??Am I boring???
Ours is black with a beautiful stained glass insert. I really wanted a red one, but in a red brick house … so we went with classic black, stained glass and brass hardware. I love coming home to it!
Oh, I can't wait to see your office. I love those colors, they make me happy!
Our front door is in need of being restained. It is an oak color and b/c it's solid wood the Hubs is not likely to let me paint it…urggh!
Love yours though!
Our front door, transom and side lights are solid oak. They were stained a medium brown when we moved in (original finish from 1988, weatherbeaten on the outside and high gloss shiny on the inside). We wanted to keep the doors, but the only stain color we liked on the oak was dark brown (raw umber). But I know you are very "down" on dark brown. I hope it doesn't look outdated already; we just got them refinished in 2008. The color does "relate" to a similar color found in the brick; perhaps that will help? I would appreciate any opinions. I just ADORE your blog!

Maria, I know how much you loved your beautiful house and garden but if you have more space…you'll love this one too. All the best for the moving time.
Moving is a lot of hard work. Good Luck! I hope your weather is good. You don't need things getting wet.
Our front door is white. It's a townhouse so we aren't allowed to change it. The Homeowner's Association prevents you from expressing yourself. I wanted a front door with a window in it to let in more light but they won't let us. 🙁
Purple, of course!!! It's the only part of the exterior I can paint, so it's gotta make a statement. I might change it to bright green or turquoise one of these years 🙂
Your office sounds like Jamie Drake's turquoise & yellow living room 🙂 Looking forward to seeing it 🙂
Kelly
My front door is a lovely shade of deep brown walnut wood. I really have been playing with painting it an olive green…it scares me a bit!

Hi Maria! I'm so happy for you that you are getting a new home! I'm sure we will get to see some great new ideas for painting and decorating as you begin to make it 'your' home. The colors for your office sound pretty bold… like something only a colour expert could do right. :o)
Oh my…the front door? Well, you know it's white of course! Now my back door is another story. Although white, it is a French glass door looking out on our pond and is beautiful. This is such a new world to me! I've admired brightly colored doors forever, but don't know what would work on a country home. I think it needs to be green. Actually, we need to paint and then we will know better what to do. But paving our 1/4 mile long driveway and putting new fencing up to keep Tex in the pasture will be our first priority this summer. Glenda, Don't you love Foyle's War?!! We absolutely are addicts!! What a series and you are right the doors are beautiful!
In fact, that was the most striking thing I noticed while walking down the streets in Cologne in Germany. The doors were so unusual (in the very old part) with door knobs in the exact middle. Some were very small too. These were not the modern parts of town but the historic parts. Some things don't improve with age..and I think modern doors are one of them. :o)
I love that orange… You had me worried at first. I picture something a bit brighter..but that is a very enjoyable earth tone.
Mine is black, but I have always wanted a RED door 🙂
I LOVE my front door. It's Red Statement by P&L, and we have a frog knocker! I hope my front door conveys a welcoming and not-too-serious attitude. We have three kids, so something's gotta give, right? xoxo
HA!! What an appropriate post. I am painting my front door TODAY. Just picked up the paint…It is Ben Moore Blackberry Wine!
Our front door is black. Jet black with one way etched Victorian glass. Only one key opens the door and it's from 1875…I love it!
Mine is Kettle Black and suits the house just fine, I have leaned towards a yellow like BM Hawthorne Yellow but it may look blah with the black shutters and brick. This has stood up for the past three years. Congrats on the move, what turquoise did you go with. I have a client going with Fairy Tale Blue by BM.
Oh, mine is a high gloss in dark brown. Not too exciting. (It's a white stucco, Tudor style home.)
What I would love though is something in a deep Fuschia or Raspberry….maybe someday if we reface the exterior and/or move. Go figure as I don't even like PINK or RED. 🙂
Still have you bookmarked for a consultation Maria if and when that days comes.
HAPPY MOVING! -Brenda-
It sounds like a great place ! Mine is the same orange as yours, love it.
Maria, Just a note…I awarded you the Sugar Doll award..just to let my readers know more about you. I don't know if you even do 'blog buttons'…but wanted to say Thanks for everything!
red, red, red – cheery happy dark red against my pale yellow house
I love it – it's so welcoming…
Mine is called "fox fire brown" by Valspar. It's really a deep dark red brown. It went on fuschia and I thought I was going to have a heart attack. Four coats later, I loved this color (door has always been some variant of red) and this by far is the richest looking that has held up to western sun.
The house is English. I went with the same door color as 10 Down Street: Glossy black.
Mine is glossy dark green. I could blame this on the former owners, except I painted the front door on my last house dark green. What does this say about me? I wouldn't mind red, but neither house would look good with a red door. I've been thinking recently about a really dark bluey gray for the door and the shutters. The color of bluestone.
Mine is GOING to be a high gloss black of some sort… going to check out the Benjamin Moore Onyx…. to go with my new black awning I am going to order to replace to burgundy one that is there now… thanks for your input Maria and for checking out my site!
Good luck on the move!
Mine is almost all glass with natural Douglas Fir wood around the edge. But the best thing is that when you come up to the front door, you can see all the way through the house and see the view of the forest & river through our living room windows. I don't know what it is, but I have always loved houses where you can see all the way through from the front door. Maybe it means I like to be completely open?
When I was a kid, we had an awesome front door! My dad bought heavy copper foil that had a nice texture, sort of like raw silk with random slubs in the fabric. He cut it into 12" x 12" squares and applied it alternating the direction so it was a copper checkerboard. Never seen anything like it before or since. I wish I had a photograph.
I have always wanted to paint my front doors. The pure white screams "paint me!". A bright blue one day maybe . . .
Mine is duck egg blue. (think Miles Redd front door) What does it say about me? It's a little taster of what's to come… And my gave color 🙂
xoxo

ps – congrats on your new apartment!!!
Since I am renting my front door is a builder's white – ughh – and the house a light peachy stucco! If it were mine I would paint the house a nice taupe and a red or black door.
I wish, wish, wish mine was red… but it's currently a boring old brown (stained wood). It's still a lovely door though!
Sundried Tomatoe!! And I love it!
Hope you'll share photos of your new place!

can't wait to see the office, because you chose my favorite color combination. My front door are dark brown on exterior, and creamy white on the interior side…
Bright yellow – Sunburst by BM. I love it so much I named my blog after it 🙂
Just discovered your blog…love it! Your latest follower all the way from the UK – Will
How fun to read all these different front door options. Why don't you have your readers send you pictures for a future post. For me, the front door is like the neck tie -the one place you can really make a statement. My front door is glass. Does that me I'm transparent?
My front door says that the guy with the power washer was an idiot and I have been procrastinating! Eventually I will fix it myself since my husband wants the guy to do it and no way do I trust him to get it right!
oh my goodness we need to catch up!!! (seriously it'e been like 2 weeks and everythign's changed!!!!!)
xoxoxoxoxo
ps- my front door says the same as yours!! 😉
Good luck with the move, I love the orange, we are thinking of painting our front door a deep orange thanks to your suggestion! – Lynn
Oh I just painted my "family front door" or aka the kitchen door… BenMoores Mountain Ridge 1456. I love love love it! It's a warm purple, hints of brown and grey…looks like the natural colors here in west. I almost went a shade lighter, and so glad I did not. My house is a creamy color and green roof.
