We’re here in Christina Lake for a few days camping! I really prefer room service, but when you have kids, you either go to the cottage in the summer or you have a trailer and camp by the lake which is where my sister Elizabeth and her family are this week! So where my nephews are, that’s where you’ll find me eventually.
Markus (my youngest Nephew) and Terreeia
We arrived on Wednesday night and Elizabeth and I have been riding every morning as far around the lake as we can. When we passed by this motel (below) I thought the colours were so great, I’m sharing them with you!
The exterior is SW 6672 Morning Sun, and the accent colours are SW 6545 Majestic Purple and SW6788 Capri.
Here’s what I want you to notice about these colours. The turquoise and yellow are really clean and bright and the colour scheme basically ignores the roof colour which would have been so much better in charcoal grey.
But the reason it works is because there is so much more motel to look at than roof.
So summery and fun! I think it would have been absolutely perfect if the yellow was stronger and less clean, choosing yellows that are too clean are a common mistake people make, but overall it’s just happy!
William and Markus are totally entertained by their big trucks playing in the sand for hours!
I liked this picture because his shorts match the truck!
Here I am in my new awesome beach chair!
I’m really enjoying my little vacation and then I’m back in the office for a week and then Terreeia and I leave for our Atlantic Canada vacation!! Can’t wait!
Hope you are enjoying our long weekend my lovelies! xo Maria

Why is there no photo of you Maria?
Turquoise…my favourite colour… next to Purple:)
Happy biking!
Okay I found a picture and posted it Angela (it’s hard since I don’t wear makeup or do my hair while at camp 🙂
That hotel would have looked so ho-hum painted traditional colors. It looks bright and cheerful. Wonder what the interior looks like? You guys need to do an investigation while you are up there and report back! Glad everyone is having such a good tie.
Not nearly like the outside, I checked it out on-line.
HA! Not surprised! Curb appeal can be deceiving.
How thoughtful of the owners to have painted it those colors! A true public service, to make so many smile!!
Just curious if you are so inclined to answer. What house color works with a white metal roof? It is canary yellow with white trim right now. We live in heavy snow country where metal roofs are acceptable.
Thank you.
The shorts and truck photo is my favorite.
Have a great time, Maria!
Is it my computer or am I just missing the yellow. All I see is turquoise and purple with the gray roof?
My monitor isn’t showing any yellow either – just looks like white or washed out. I imagine that would be much happier. They could also dress up the place with some planters and flowers! Turquoise and purple on an exterior definitely lends an island-feel.
The main siding colour is a washed out yellow yes. That’s why I said it could have been a little stronger and muddier so that we could see it 🙂
Have a dandy time! Your sister is incredibly fit — my compliments.
Those motel colors look OK — I agree brighter yellow might have looked more Caribbean. What is missing is pretty flowers!
Diane (above) and I must have the same problem with computers … I can’t see a skerrick of yellow either!
Looks a lovely spot for a few days away, so enjoy 😉
